Enhancing Women's Role in Society: A Consultation Between GLOCA and Bülbülzade Foundation in Aleppo
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen women's role in rebuilding Syrian society, representatives from the Global Organization for Civil Society Advancement (GLOCA) participated in a consultation session held at the Bülbülzade Foundation Aleppo Liaison Office. The session brought together businesswomen, civil society leaders, students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Aleppo University, and representatives from various relevant organizations.
Among the notable participants were Mustafa Hüseyin, President of the Gaziantep Syrian Society, Rabia Aldemir, President of the Mosaic Association, a sociologist from the Burial Services Center, Zülal Sevinç, Education Coordinator of the Anatolian Federation, and Eyüp Keleş, Coordinator of the Bülbülzade Foundation Help Center, along with other key stakeholders.
GLOCA Representatives: Women Leading Change
Discussions focused on empowering women and enhancing their participation in economic, social, and cultural sectors. Participants explored strategies to organize impactful initiatives that promote women's rights and foster their active involvement in shaping Syria’s future.
Representatives from GLOCA shared their perspectives on the critical role of women in the upcoming phase. Fawzia Zebak emphasized:
"Integrating women into the rebuilding process is not just an option; it is essential for ensuring a sustainable and stable future."
Fatima Al-Othman highlighted:
"Women's empowerment is not just about providing opportunities; it is about creating an environment that ensures the continuity of their participation."
Meanwhile, Madiha Barutji stressed the importance of collaboration, stating:
"Partnerships between civil society organizations amplify efforts and open new avenues for supporting and empowering women across various sectors."
Towards a More Inclusive Future for Women
The session concluded with an agreement on the necessity of continued dialogue and collaborative efforts through training programs and field activities aimed at empowering women. Participants also discussed organizing follow-up meetings to monitor the implementation of proposed initiatives and ensure the sustainability of efforts in this critical field.
