Overview
On 5 July 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA held a physical discussion session in Aleppo to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Syrian Dialogue Center. The session was facilitated by Wasim Alhaj, with the participation of 10 representatives and civil society actors.

Activity Focus
The meeting focused on strengthening civil cooperation, youth capacity building, and institutional networking between GLOCA and the Syrian Dialogue Center. The discussion addressed areas of joint work that respond to Syria’s transitional needs and support a more aware, capable, and sustainable civil society.

• Implementing cultural and social awareness programs.

• Training and empowering youth in leadership, civic work, and community participation.

• Developing effective approaches to Syrian national and social issues.

• Conducting joint field research, particularly on security reform, rights, freedoms, and community issues.

Key Outputs
The meeting established the foundations for sustained cooperation between GLOCA and the Syrian Dialogue Center. It also identified priorities for joint programs, including youth training, civic awareness, applied research, and institutional capacity building.

Impact
The MoU represents an important step toward stronger cooperation between Syrian civil society organizations, combining research, youth empowerment, and community awareness to support more effective civic engagement during Syria’s transitional phase.
