Activity Summary
Overview
On 8 May 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA participated in a physical discussion meeting in Aleppo on reparations mechanisms in Syria, held upon the invitation of Madaniya Platform and with the participation of the Global Survivors Fund. The meeting brought together 30 participants to discuss rights-based approaches to justice, reparations, and safe return in the Syrian context.

The discussion addressed the experiences of victims and survivors, possible local and international reparations mechanisms, and the importance of housing, land, and property rights as a central condition for safe, voluntary, and dignified return.

The meeting opened new coordination channels between GLOCA, Madaniya Platform, and the Global Survivors Fund, and strengthened a rights-based approach to reparations, accountability, and voluntary sustainable return.
