Activity Summary

Overview
On 21 June 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA held a physical workshop in Aleppo titled “Design and Implementation of MEP Systems.” The workshop brought together 9 participants and focused on developing practical engineering knowledge related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in modern facilities.

Workshop Focus
The workshop introduced participants to the main components of MEP systems and their role in ensuring efficient, safe, and well-coordinated building design. It also highlighted the importance of integrated engineering planning in future reconstruction and infrastructure projects.

Key Themes

  • HVAC systems, including air conditioning and ventilation.

  • Plumbing, sanitary, drainage, and rainwater systems.

  • Firefighting systems and safety considerations.

  • Electrical systems and low-current systems.

  • AutoCAD applications in MEP system design.

Key Outputs
Participants gained a clearer understanding of the core principles of MEP design and implementation. They also developed practical knowledge of how to coordinate HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and electrical systems within one engineering project, with introductory applications using AutoCAD.

Impact
The workshop strengthened participants’ technical readiness for the labor market and future reconstruction projects in Syria, while promoting professional standards, technical efficiency, and safety in MEP system design and implementation.
