Overview
On 21 July 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA held a physical workshop in Aleppo titled “A Dialogue Workshop in Aleppo on the Security Context and the Role of Civil Society.” The workshop was delivered by Wasim Alhaj and facilitated by Ayman Ayoub, with the participation of 25 civil society and community actors.

Workshop Focus
The workshop discussed the security situation in Aleppo and the social challenges connected to it, with a focus on rebuilding trust between civil society and security institutions, strengthening transparency, and developing practical coordination mechanisms.

The workshop also highlighted the need to strengthen civil society capacities in project management, monitoring and evaluation, protection, and psychosocial support, alongside regular coordination channels with local institutions and external partners.

Impact
The workshop contributed to opening a constructive dialogue on security, recovery, and community trust in Aleppo. It reinforced the role of civil society as a key partner in supporting local stability, rebuilding trust, and contributing to the foundations of accountable institutions.
