On November 18, 2023, the Shabab PRO Platform, one of the projects of Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA, hosted a seminar titled “National Identity.”

The seminar was presented by Dr. Zaidoun Al-Zoubi, an expert in governance, decentralization, and national identity. Drawing on his extensive experience as a facilitator with the Women’s Advisory Board and the Civil Society Support Room of the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, as well as his advisory work with international organizations including GIZ-FPU and UN Women, Dr. Al-Zoubi offered an in-depth analysis of the concept of national identity.

The discussion explored the foundations of national belonging, the factors that shape collective identity, and the relationship between identity, governance, and social cohesion in the Syrian context.

The seminar was moderated by Ahmed Bakran, Manager of the Shabab PRO Platform.
