Overview
On 17 July 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA participated in the Aleppo Family Workshop, a two-day physical discussion activity held in Aleppo. The workshop was organized by Bülbülzade Foundation, in cooperation with Akader Women’s Association from Türkiye, and brought together 50 participants, including women leaders, civil society actors, and community representatives.
Activity Focus
The workshop created a cross-border civic dialogue space to discuss women’s roles in Syrian and Turkish civil societies, shared challenges facing women, and opportunities for cooperation between women-led and civil society organizations.

The workshop helped identify shared women’s issues and initial recommendations to strengthen women’s participation in civic and community life. It also expanded networking between Syrian and Turkish organizations and opened space for future joint initiatives, coordination platforms, and cross-border capacity-building programs.
Impact
The activity provided a safe and constructive space for women’s dialogue and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between Syrian and Turkish civil society actors to support women’s empowerment, participation, and leadership.
