Overview
On 1 May 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA implemented a two-day physical training in Aleppo titled “Introduction to Development Project Management.” The training was delivered and facilitated by Youssef Kardosh, with the participation of 28 participants.
Training Focus
The training introduced participants to the foundations of development project management, with a focus on understanding the nature of development projects, their life cycle, and the practical tools needed for planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Key Themes
Basic concepts of development project management.
Differences between development projects and profit-oriented projects.
The development project life cycle from idea to evaluation.
Problem analysis and stakeholder identification.
Tools such as Problem Tree, SWOT, and Logical Framework Approach.
Formulating objectives, outputs, activities, and SMART indicators.
Introduction to managing resources, time, budget, teams, and risks.
Key Outputs
Participants gained a clearer understanding of how development projects are designed and managed. They also practiced analyzing problems, identifying stakeholders, and preparing an initial project plan using the Logical Framework Approach, with basic performance indicators.
Impact
The training strengthened participants’ practical capacity to plan and manage future development initiatives and provided them with tools that can be applied in civil society, community, and institutional projects.
