Overview
On 9 July 2025, Advancing Civil Society - GLOCA, in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs, implemented a two-day physical training in Aleppo titled “Data Analysis Skills.” The training was delivered and facilitated by Noor Nabhan, with the participation of 25 participants from social and administrative work backgrounds.

Training Focus
The training focused on enabling participants to understand, organize, analyze, and present data in ways that support better planning and evidence-based decision-making within social programs and community projects.

Key Themes

  • Introduction to data analysis and its importance in social and administrative work.

  • Quantitative and qualitative data and methods of data collection.

  • Data entry, cleaning, and organization using Excel and Google Sheets.

  • Basic descriptive statistics, including mean, median, and standard deviation.

  • Data visualization through charts and graphs.

  • Using analysis results to understand social and development challenges.

  • Preparing concise analytical reports and visual presentations.

  • Practical exercises using data related to social work contexts.

Key Outputs
Participants gained practical knowledge of data organization and basic analysis tools, and learned how to interpret results and connect them to institutional planning, project design, and community needs assessment.

Impact
The training strengthened the capacity of local social sector staff to use data more effectively in planning, monitoring, and decision-making, contributing to improved program quality and more responsive community interventions.
